Ingredients

  • 12 ounces, weight All Beef Hot Dogs
  • 4 ounces, weight Cheddar Cheese, Thinly Sliced In Strips
  • 8 slices Applewood Bacon, Thick Cut
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 8 Toothpicks
  • 8 whole Wheat Hot Dog Buns
  • 8 teaspoons Butter, Or As Desired For Buttering Buns
  • Toppings: Your Favorite Slaw, Ketchup, Mustard, Onions, Sauerkraut, Relish

Method

  • Preheat your gill to medium heat.
  • Slice your hot dogs lengthwise down the center, but do not cut through the bottom.
  • Press cheese strips into the sliced opening of the hot dogs.
  • Wrap each with a piece of thick cut bacon.
  • Use a half of a toothpick at the start and end of the bacon to hold bacon in place during grilling.
  • Grill hot dogs over medium heat until bacon is cooked through, and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from grill and set aside.
  • Butter the cut side of the hot dogs buns.
  • Place buns on the hot grates until nicely toasted.
  • Serve hot dogs on the toasted buns with your choice of toppings.
