Ingredients

  • 12 slices bread
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. dry mustard
  • 3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese, shredded

Method

  • Cut crust off bread and cut into cubes.
  • Lightly grease or Pam a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Line bread cubes in dish, using 1/2 of bread.
  • Beat eggs, milk and seasonings.
  • Sprinkle 1/3 of cheese on bread cubes.
  • Add another layer of bread and 1/3 of cheese.
  • Pour milk mixture over bread and cheese.
  • Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. Remove from oven; top with rest of cheese.
  • Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon dry parsley.
  • Return to oven; bake 10 minutes more.
