Ingredients
- 3/4 c. cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2 or 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. walnuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
- Melt shortening and chocolate together.
- Beat eggs well; add sugar gradually and beat thoroughly.
- Add chocolate mixture and blend.
- Add flour and mix well, then stir in nuts and vanilla.
- Bake in greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan in moderate oven (350°) for 25 minutes for moist brownies or 30 minutes for cake-like brownies.
- Cool in pan, then cut in squares.
