Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 pkg. caramels

Method

  • Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in double boiler. Mix cake mix with butter and the rest of the evaporated milk. Spread half of dough into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes at 350°.
  • After the 10 minutes, put chocolate chips over baked dough and follow with caramel mixture.
  • Next, spread the rest of dough on top and bake 15 to 18 minutes at 350°. Refrigerate for 1 hour and cut into bars.
