Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 heaping Tbsp. chocolate
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 well beaten egg yolks

Method

  • In saucepan, mix sugar, salt, flour, chocolate and cornstarch. Mix well before adding milk to mixture.
  • Add milk and cook on medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • After mixture heats through, add cup of mixture to beaten egg yolks.
  • Then return to pan and cook until smooth and thick.
  • Remove from stove, add butter and vanilla.
  • Pour into baked pie shell and top with meringue, beaten well.
  • Bake in 325° oven until brown.
