Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 2 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
Method
- In a large mixer bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, milk and vanilla and almond extract until well mixed.
- Wrap and refrigerate until firm.
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Roll dough onto lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness.
- Cut out dough with star-shaped cookie cutter.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10 minutes or until lightly browned around edges.
- Cool on wire racks.
- Ice and decorate as desired.
