Ingredients

  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. pecans
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Mix together the buttermilk, sugar and soda until sugar is dissolved.
  • Place on low to medium heat; bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Cook until soft ball stage.
  • Add pecans, butter and vanilla.
  • Beat until glossy and begins thickening.
  • Spoon out on greased wax paper.
  • If it gets too thick to spoon out, put it back on the heat for a minute or so.
  • It will gradually turn brown while cooking.
