Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough
  • 1/2 lb. salami
  • 1/2 lb. boiled ham
  • 1/2 lb. hot ham
  • 1/2 lb. Provolone cheese
  • 1 egg
  • sesame or poppy seeds

Method

  • Let pizza dough rise overnight and punch down as needed.
  • Roll out pizza dough into a rectangle.
  • Spread out one layer of salami in a circular pattern completely covering dough.
  • Cover salami completely with one layer of boiled ham and then cover the ham with layer of hot ham.
  • Cover these meats in circular pattern with Provolone.
  • Pick up one end of dough and fold to the midpoint and then fold the same side once more to the end.
  • Tuck in sides of calzone so nothing leaks when baked.
  • Beat a whole egg and brush over calzone so it will brown.
  • Sprinkle poppy or sesame seeds on top and cut three small slices on top to let steam escape.
  • Put calzone on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes to 1 hour, checking at 45 minutes and remove when brown. Add 5 to 10 minutes for 2 calzones.
