- 7 oz. macaroni
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/4 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 2 c. whole milk
- 1 c. grated sharp Cheddar
- 1 Tbsp. chopped onion, very fine
- 1 1/2 c. English peas, drained
- 1/4 c. sour cream
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 2 c. diced ham, cooked (chicken or other cooked meat may be substituted)
Method
- Cook macaroni according to package.
- Melt butter and stir in the next three ingredients.
- Gradually add the milk and cook, stirring until thickened, then boil for about 1 minute.
- Add the next three ingredients and mix with the macaroni.
- Grease a large casserole dish.
- Put about 1/2 of the mixture in the dish.
- Pour the sour cream and cottage cheese on top of this, then add the rest of macaroni.
- Add diced meat and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle with the Cheese Crumb Topping.
