Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Leave these ingredients until after the cookies have been rolled into balls:
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Method
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream shortening and unsalted butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating until mixed. Add sugar, beating until mixed.
- Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine dry mixture into wet mixture until fully mixed.
- Combine leftover sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside. Roll the cookie dough into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Dip one side of the rolled balls into the sugar and cinnamon mixture and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until cookies are lightly browned.
