Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Leave these ingredients until after the cookies have been rolled into balls:
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cream shortening and unsalted butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating until mixed. Add sugar, beating until mixed.
  • Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine dry mixture into wet mixture until fully mixed.
  • Combine leftover sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside. Roll the cookie dough into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Dip one side of the rolled balls into the sugar and cinnamon mixture and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes until cookies are lightly browned.
