Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 3/4 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 c. water
  • 5 c. pecans
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3/4 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Toast pecans in a 200° oven until warm.
  • Set aside.
  • Cook sugar, corn syrup and water to 240°, then add pecans.
  • Cook to 295°, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add butter and stir until dissolved.
  • Add soda and salt; stir vigorously.
  • Pour out in butter greased pans.
  • Spread as thinly as possible.
  • Break into pieces when cooled.
