- 3/4 c. cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2/3 c. butter or margarine, divided
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
- 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Method
- In a large bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda.
- Blend in 1/3 cup melted butter.
- Add boiling water.
- Stir until well blended. Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining butter.
- Add flour, vanilla and salt.
- Stir in nuts and chocolate pieces.
- Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
- Cool.
- Makes 3 dozen. Can be iced or powdered.
