Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. chopped toasted almonds or pecans
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 plain milk chocolate bars

Method

  • Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy and add egg yolk and vanilla.
  • Gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended. (Dough will be thick.)
  • Spread evenly on ungreased 16 x 14 x 1-inch baking pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and arrange unwrapped candy bars evenly near surface of crust. Let stand for 5 minutes to soften.
  • Spread over crust and sprinkle nuts over top.
  • Cut into squares.
