Ingredients
- 1 3/16 cups dark chocolate at least 70% cocoa
- 3/4 cup margarine
- butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 4 eggs
- 5/8 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 5/8 cup walnuts chopped
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180C.
- Line a rectangular cake tin (15 x 25 centimeters approx.) with parchment paper.
- Melt the chocolate in the microwave on medium power, for 1 minute at a time, and stir until smooth.
- In a bowl, mix the butter, sugar, and maple syrup.
- When the mixture is smooth and creamy, add the eggs, one at a time, stirring continually.
- Add the melted chocolate and mix well.
- Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and nuts.
- Mix all the ingredients together and pour into the cake tin.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- The surface should appear cracked and uneven.
