Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Grease and flour 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, for 30 seconds.
  • Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Pour into pan.
  • Bake until well done, 60 to 65 minutes.
