Ingredients
- 1 None egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 8 oz spinach, finely chopped, cooked, drained
- 1 lb ground beef, seasoned to taste
Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the egg in a bowl with 1/2 tsp of salt and beat lightly. Add the butter and milk and stir in the flour with a fork to form a dough. Turn out onto a floured work surface and knead lightly.
- Roll the dough out thinly into an 11 x 15 inch rectangle. Top with an even layer of spinach, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges. Top with ground beef.
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough up loosely to enclose the filling. Moisten the ends with water and pinch together to seal. Using a sharp knife, cut into 3/4 inch slices. Arrange on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 mins, until the pastry is golden and the beef is cooked. Serve.
