Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/4 c. chopped celery
- 2 1/2 c. fresh or canned tomatoes
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 4 c. cabbage
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
Method
- Cook beef in shortening until brown.
- Add onion and celery; cook for 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, salt and pepper.
- Bring to boiling point.
- Alternate layers of cabbage and beef mixture in buttered 2-quart baking dish.
- Top with bread crumbs.
- Bake in preheated 375° oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until done.
- Serves 6.
