Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter Crisco or 2 sticks margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. grated orange rind (freeze, then grate)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. orange extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Cream Crisco and sugar together.
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each.
  • Add extracts.
  • Sift flour, salt and soda together 3 times.
  • Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
  • Add grated rind and mix.
  • Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature. Bake 1 hour at 300°.
