Ingredients

  • 4 medium tomatoes
  • 1 large garlic clove, sliced thin
  • 4 teaspoons dried marjoram or 4 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 8 teaspoons olive oil
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper

Method

  • Preheat broiler.
  • Cut each tomato in half and arrange cut side up in a shallow baking dish.
  • Insert a sliver of garlic into the center of each half tomato.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle marjoram, or oregano, over each half.
  • Sprinkle with olive oil.
  • Broil 8 to 10 minutes, until bubbling and garlic starts to brown.
  • Discard garlic and serve.
