Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2/3 c. raisins
  • 6 Tbsp. chilled butter

Method

  • Mix together the first 4 ingredients; set aside.
  • Mix the next 4 dry ingredients and raisins.
  • Combine together the wet and dry ingredients.
  • Take the chilled butter; with 2 table knives, cut together until totally mixed.
  • Do not mix too much, but until a lump consistency.
  • Form into a round stone shapes about 2 inches thick.
  • Place on a baking sheet in oven preheated to 400° for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until a golden brown.
