Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. bulk sausage (mild to hot)
- 1 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. quick cooking grits
- 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar or American cheese (6 oz.)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. dry parsley flakes
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Method
- Cook sausage in skillet until no longer pink; drain well. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, bring water to boiling.
- Slowly add grits, stirring constantly.
- Cook and stir until boiling again.
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 5 minutes or until water is absorbed and mixture is thick, stirring occasionally. Add 1 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese melts.
- Remove pan from the heat.
