Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 fresh jalapeno peppers, chopped (optional)
  • 2 (8 oz. each) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can each: kidney beans and pinto beans, drain and rinse
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp. chili powder to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • salt to taste

Method

  • In a large pot, heat oil and add onion, garlic and peppers. Saute until onion is tender and add meats.
  • Cook through.
  • Add tomatoes and tomato sauces and beans.
  • Add remaining ingredients and lower heat to simmer for 1 hour.
  • Serves 8 to 10.
  • Serve over elbow macaroni or noodles.
