Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour, sifted
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Combine flour and cinnamon; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  • Stir in egg yolk and vanilla until well blended.
  • Spread dough in a greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking sheet and pat down.
  • Brush egg white on top of dough; sprinkle nuts over dough.
  • Press nuts down.
  • Bake in preheated 300° oven for 30 minutes.
  • Cut into bars and remove from sheet to cool. Makes 2 dozen bars.
