Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites, unbeaten
  • 2 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 tsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine egg whites, sugar, water and corn syrup in top of double boiler.
  • Beat until thoroughly mixed, then place over rapidly boiling water, beating constantly and cook for 18 minutes or until frosting will stand in peaks.
  • Add coloring to hot frosting to give delicate shell pink tint.
  • Remove from boiling water, add vanilla and beat until thick enough to spread.
  • Makes enough frosting for 3 layer cake and 1 extra cup for decorating.
