Ingredients

  • 1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) brown sugar
  • 2/3 c. melted margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Method

  • Mix ingredients in order given; mix well after each egg addition.
  • Spread into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
  • (Do not overbake; this has a brownie texture.) Cool in pan; cut into bars or squares.
  • Yields six dozen.
  • (There is no liquid other than the eggs and melted margarine.)
