Ingredients

  • 3 c. Cocoa Puff cereal
  • 3 c. rice cereal squares
  • 1 1/2 c. small twisted pretzels
  • 1 c. peanuts
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. margarine or butter
  • 1/4 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine cereals, pretzels and nuts in a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  • Cook and stir together brown sugar, butter and syrup over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
  • Let boil without stirring for 4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in cream of tartar and baking soda.
  • Add vanilla and pour over cereal mixture. Stir gently to coat.
  • Bake in 300° oven for 30 minutes.
  • Stir after first 15 minutes.
  • Spread on foil to cool.
  • Keep in a tightly covered container.
  • Makes 8 cups.
