- 3 c. Cocoa Puff cereal
- 3 c. rice cereal squares
- 1 1/2 c. small twisted pretzels
- 1 c. peanuts
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Combine cereals, pretzels and nuts in a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Cook and stir together brown sugar, butter and syrup over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
- Let boil without stirring for 4 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in cream of tartar and baking soda.
- Add vanilla and pour over cereal mixture. Stir gently to coat.
- Bake in 300° oven for 30 minutes.
- Stir after first 15 minutes.
- Spread on foil to cool.
- Keep in a tightly covered container.
- Makes 8 cups.
