Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 to 1 c. strawberry jam

Method

  • Mix by hand with long wooden spoon.
  • Cream butter and add sugar.
  • Cream until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs yolks and blend well.
  • Add flour, mix thoroughly.
  • Fold in nuts, salt and vanilla. Spoon 1/2 batter into pan.
  • Spread evenly.
  • Spread strawberry jam on dough.
  • Cover with remaining dough.
  • Bake 1 hour at 325° or until lightly browned.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
  • Cut into squares.
