Ingredients
- 2 lb. venison, cut into cubes
- 1/2 lb. bacon, diced
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 3 onions, sliced
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
Method
- Use a heavy kettle and heat bacon bits.
- Add deer meat and saute with paprika until brown on all sides.
- Add 3 or 4 cups boiling water.
- Stir occasionally to keep meat from sticking. Cook over low heat for 2 hours.
- Add potatoes and onions during last 30 minutes of cooking time. Remove meat, potatoes and onions. Keep warm.
- Make a thickening of about 3 tablespoons flour and broth.
- Stir into juice.
- Add meat, mushrooms, potatoes and onions.
