Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons aniseed
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons shortening, divided
  • 1/3 cup white baking chips

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and extracts. In a small bowl, whisk flour, aniseed, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts.
  • Divide dough in half. On an ungreased
