Ingredients
- 1 1/4 lb. ground lean beef chuck
- 1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup
- 1 (14 oz.) bottle water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder or to taste
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 large onion, sliced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
- grated cheese (optional)
Method
- In a Dutch oven, combine meat, ketchup, water, chili powder, vinegar, onion, salt and pepper.
- Simmer for about 45 minutes, making sure to crumble meat into small pieces as it cooks.
- Add partially drained beans and simmer about 15 minutes longer.
- If desired, serve with topping of grated cheese.
