Ingredients
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2 c. raisins
- 2 c. water
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. white sugar
- 2 Tbsp. lard
- 3 c. flour (self-rising)
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Method
- Combine apples, raisins, water, brown sugar, white sugar and lard in a large saucepan and cook 5 minutes.
- Cool completely. Sift the remaining ingredients in large bowl.
- Add apple-raisin mixture.
- Blend well.
- Add 1 cup walnuts or pecans.
- Pour into greased and floured pan, 9 x 12-inch and bake for 1 hour at 350°, or until cake is done.
