Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Method
- Cream shortening; add sugar, then molasses.
- Finally, add the boiling water.
- Add sifted dry ingredients, stirring all well after each addition.
- Add the well beaten eggs.
- Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
