Ingredients
- 1 large head cabbage
- 1 large green pepper (optional)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. salad oil
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1 c. vinegar
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. salt
Method
- Shred cabbage and place in large bowl.
- Slice onion and pepper; grate carrots.
- Place over top of cabbage.
- Sprinkle sugar over raw vegetables (do not stir).
- Bring vinegar, salad oil, dry mustard, celery seed and salt to boil.
- Pour over cabbage while hot (do not stir).
- When cool, refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Stir well to blend before serving.
- Drain off liquid before serving.
- Will keep a week or more in refrigerator.
