Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp.salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • jelly or jam
  • nuts
  • cream icing

Method

  • Beat eggs until light. Add sugar and continue beating until fluffy. Add water and vanilla. Cream. Sift dry ingredients together and add gradually.
  • Pour batter in a 15 x 11-inch jelly roll pan lined with greased wax paper.
  • Bake in a 375° oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Turn out immediately on a tea towel which has been sprinkled with powdered sugar.
  • Cut off edges of cake and remove wax paper.
  • Spread liberally with jelly or jam and roll up.
  • Wrap with towel until cool.
  • Remove towel and spread with cream icing and garnish with nuts or cherries.
  • Yields 10 servings.
