Ingredients
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced or 2 cans mushrooms (6 to 8 oz. each)
- salad oil
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 can whole tomatoes, crushed
- 1 can (10 3/4 oz. size) beef broth
- 2 soup cans water
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 c. Minute rice
Method
- Saute mushrooms in a little oil; set aside.
- Brown hamburger, draining off fat.
- Add tomatoes, mushroom mix, broth, water and seasonings.
- Bring to boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
- Stir in rice and cover.
- Set aside for 5 minutes. Makes 9 cups.
