Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced or 2 cans mushrooms (6 to 8 oz. each)
  • salad oil
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 can whole tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 can (10 3/4 oz. size) beef broth
  • 2 soup cans water
  • 2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 c. Minute rice

Method

  • Saute mushrooms in a little oil; set aside.
  • Brown hamburger, draining off fat.
  • Add tomatoes, mushroom mix, broth, water and seasonings.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in rice and cover.
  • Set aside for 5 minutes. Makes 9 cups.
