Ingredients

  • 6 slices white bread
  • butter
  • 1 1/2 to 2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 6 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Remove crusts from bread, spread with butter and place in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  • Set aside.
  • Brown sausage, stirring to crumble.
  • Drain well.
  • Spoon over bread and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Mix eggs, milk and salt together.
  • Pour over cheese. Cover casserole and refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove 15 minutes before baking.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 15 minutes.
