Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • salt
  • 2 tsp. basil, crushed
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 lb. spaghetti
  • 4-6 quarts boiling water

Method

  • Brown ground beef in a large pot.
  • Drain off excess fat. Saute onions and garlic until tender.
  • Stir into ground beef, onions and garlic, undrained tomatoes and tomato paste, salt, basil, sugar and chili powder.
  • Heat to boiling.
  • Reduce heat and simmer on low for 30 minutes, stirring
  • occasionally.
