Ingredients

  • soup bones
  • 2 lb. stewing beef
  • water to cover bones
  • 16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 pkg. pot herbs
  • 1 lb. mixed vegetables
  • 1/2 c. shredded cabbage (optional)
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes

Method

  • In large soup pot place bouillon cubes, bones, meat and pot herbs; cover with water.
  • Simmer for 1 hour.
  • Add to pot stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  • Simmer 1/2 hour.
  • Remove pot herbs, meat and bones.
  • Add veggies; simmer 1/2 hour more. Serves approximately 6.
  • Serve hot.
  • Tastes better next day.
