Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour, plus 2 tbsp
  • 1/3 cup ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds

Method

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease 2-3 baking trays.
  • Beat butter and sugar until smooth. Stir in flour and ground almonds. Roll level tablespoons of mixture into balls and place on trays about 2 inches apart. Flatten into 1/3 inch thick discs using a lightly floured fork. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Bake for 10 mins, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool on baking trays for 5 mins then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
