Ingredients

  • 3 c. canned Italian-style plum tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 c. chopped onions

Method

  • Saute onions in olive oil over medium heat until transparent. Add remaining ingredients (except oregano) and stir.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add oregano and continue cooking for 15 minutes.
  • Remove bay leaf.
  • Spread evenly over pizza dough.
  • (Remember to prick the dough first before applying sauce.)
