Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening or margarine
  • 3 c. Pillsbury bread flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 egg

Method

  • In a saucepan, heat milk and shortening until shortening is melted.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
  • Gradually stir in hot liquid.
  • Add egg and stir well.
  • Mix in enough flour for kneading consistency.
  • Knead 5 minutes.
  • Cover dough and let rest 10 minutes.
  • Pinch off a small piece of dough and shape for rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased pan.
  • When pan is filled, cover rolls and let rise in a warm place, free from draft, 45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • Bake 20 minutes.
  • Makes about 3 dozen.
