Ingredients

  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 c. butter (not oleo)
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of cream of tartar
  • 1 (12.3 oz. box) or 10 c. Crispix
  • 2 c. mixed nuts

Method

  • Mix brown sugar, corn syrup and butter in heavy 2-quart saucepan and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Do not stir! Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and cream of tartar.
  • Mix well and pour over Crispix and nuts.
  • Stir to coat.
  • Spread in large, buttered roaster.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  • Cool 10 minutes.
  • Stir and break into pieces.
  • Cool completely and store in covered container.
  • (Good for popcorn, too.)
