Ingredients

  • 2 lb. hamburg
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • oregano
  • basil
  • crushed red pepper
  • salt
  • 2 c. tomatoes, drained (1 big jar)
  • 2 large (16 oz. each) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 small paste
  • 2 large cans red kidney beans

Method

  • Saute beef until brown.
  • Pour of fat.
  • Add onions, pepper, garlic and spices.
  • Mix well.
  • When onion and pepper are tender, stir in tomatoes, sauce and paste.
  • Mix well.
  • Bring to a boil. Break up tomatoes with a fork.
  • Cover and simmer slowly until thick and flavors blend, about 40 minutes.
  • Add beans.
  • Simmer 10 minutes or until hot.
