Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten

Method

  • Combine flour and sugar; mix well and set aside.
  • Combine water, butter and cocoa in heavy saucepan.
  • Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually stir in flour mixture.
  • Stir in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
  • While warm, prick surface and spread with Chocolate Candy Frosting.
