Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 c. shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 c. rolled oats
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 large pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nutmeats (optional)

Method

  • Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Set aside.
  • Cream together the sugars and shortening and then add the eggs.
  • Beat well.
  • Fold in the flour mixture, oats and vanilla and then the chips and nutmeats.
  • Blend all together very well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake in a 350° oven until light brown, about 10 minutes.
