Ingredients

  • 1 cup Bisquick mix
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • pinch of baking powder
  • About an inch of vegetable oil in a heavy fry pan for frying the dough strips.
  • Good corn syrup for dipping the rolkuchen in
  • and, last but not an option, slices of watermelon!!

Method

  • Mix together the Bisquick, flour, egg, salt and baking powder, squeezing the dough till its a sticky glump!!
  • Heavily flour the table, turn the dough onto it and kneed the flour in, roll out to 1/2" thick. Cut into two inch strips by about 6" long, then cut a long slit in to the 6" long strip, pull one end through the slit, making a 'bowtie'. Fry in hot oil just till golden, drain. Serve stacked in a large bowl, eat while still hot!!
