Ingredients
- 2 lb. pkg. lima beans
- ham to taste
- 1 small onion
- 1/2 box brown sugar
- 1 jar chili sauce
Method
- Wash beans with cold water.
- Place beans in kettle and cover with water.
- After it comes to a boil, put in a pinch of baking soda.
- Parboil until not white, about 10 minutes (being careful that skins of beans don't start coming off).
- Drain.
- Put beans in roasting pan with ham, salt and pepper, small onion (quartered and sliced), brown sugar and water just to cover beans.
- Bake until water cooks down a little at 325°.
- Add chili sauce; continue baking until beans are tender and sauce slightly thickened.
