Ingredients
- 1 qt. dried apples
- 2 c. water, plus some
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. salt
Method
- Cook apples
- in
- cups water, covered, until soft and most of the
- water
- has
- been
- taken up.
- Remove from heat and stir until smooth with potato masher.
- Add sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cool.
- Mix flour, shortening (heap shortening) and salt well.
- Add cold water to make a soft pie dough.
