Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/3 c. chopped celery
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can Cheddar cheese soup
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 1 loaf unsliced French bread

Method

  • Brown hamburger; add vegetables and cook until tender; drain. Stir in cheese soup, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings.
  • Slice off top of bread loaf; hollow out center.
  • Reserve bread from center of loaf; tear into small cubes.
  • Stir bread cubes into meat mixture.
  • Spoon mixture into hollowed loaf; cut cheese slices diagonally.
  • Arrange on top of loaf; place top of bread atop cheese slices.
  • Wrap in foil and heat at 350° about 20 minutes or until cheese melts.
