- 1 lb. green beans (regular cut)
- 1 lb. yellow wax beans
- 1 lb. red kidney beans
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. cider vinegar
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas; optional)
- 1/3 c. salad oil (Wesson)
Method
- Drain beans and mix together.
- Mix into a bowl or jar the chopped pepper, sugar, vinegar, oil, salt and pepper and pour over beans.
- Marinate, covered, overnight. Stir a few times. Double or triple the recipe for large picnics.
- Recipe alone serves 10 helpings.
